{smoothie goodness} Jalapeno-Peach

Just took my afternoon "time out" from work, to try this smoothie recipe I have had for months, but never had the right ingredients until today! (thanks Vanessa)  It was the perfect blend of sweet/savory with a kick of spice.  Mine turned out to be a little too much kick but still wonderful.  Recipe in the below, ENJOY!

Jalapeno-Peach Smoothie
2- fresh peaches, pitted
2- green apples (juiced)
2- jalapenos (one juiced, and the other deseeded and sliced)

You are supposed to juice both apples and one of the jalapeno.  Since I do not have a juicer, I cheated and went to my market and bought freshly-squeezed apple juice.  I also deseeded the jalapenos, sliced them and added them to the blender.  If going this route, I highly recommend just using 1-1.5 jalapenos.

I also slightly froze the sliced peaches and fresh apple juice (4 hours.)  I love smoothies frothy, and usually have to throw in a couple of ice cubes.  I didn't want to water down this smoothie, so freezing the fruit was perfect!

Next time, (and when I'm not at work) I'll definitely add some "spirits" to it.  Perfect for an afternoon out in the sun with friends!

Red Velvet Hot Chocolate Recipe

With Valentine's day steadily creeping up on us I thought it would be fun to make a little festive hot chocolate treat. Behold darlings: pink hot chocolate and red velvet hot chocolate! Share one of these with your bestie or your Mr. Tis' the season for chocolate, and pink, and appreciating the loved one's in your life.

Red Velvet Hot Chocolate, makes 2 servings.

Needed: 4-5 cups milk, 1 cup dark chocolate chips, 2-3 drops red food coloring.

Pink Hot Chocolate, makes 2 servings.

Needed: 4-5 cups milk, 1 cup white chocolate chips, and 2 tablespoons strawberry syrup.

For each of these beverages the method is the same: in a small pot heat the milk over medium heat. Add the chocolate chips and continue to stir constantly as they melt and incorporate into the milk. Add the syrup or dye. Serve with whip cream and cozy up with someone. :) Enjoy! xo. emma and elsie

Ms. Louise Brooks brought to light the infamous flapper hair do we all have come to know as the quintessential hair of the roaring 20's.  From her humble beginnings as a modern dancer in LA to an affair with Charlie Chaplin; Louise was ahead of her time. Her soft Betty Boop-esque beauty and very strong demeanor made her a true ICON and one of my lovely inspirations.
